How to Reach Bandhavgarh National Park from Delhi

By Air

The nearest airports to Bandhavgarh are Khajuraho Airport (approx. 190 km) and Jabalpur Airport (approx. 180 km). From either airport, you can hire a taxi or private cab for a 4 – 5 hour drive to the park.

By Train

Take a train from Delhi to Umaria (closest station, 12 km from the park) or Katni (around 90 km). From the station, taxis or private vehicles are available to reach the park gates.

By Road

Bandhavgarh is about 1,050–1,100 km from Delhi. The drive takes roughly 18–20 hours via Gwalior – Jhansi – Satna – Umaria. The route passes through scenic landscapes, forests, and small towns, making it suitable for road trip enthusiasts.

Best Time to Book Bandhavgarh Tiger Safari Packages

Booking your Kanha safari from Delhi early ensures a smooth and memorable experience. Since only a limited number of jeeps enter the park each day, permits often sell out weeks or even months before the travel date.

The park remains open from October to June, with each season offering something special.

  • October to February: The forest is lush and green after the monsoon, perfect for photography and bird watching.
  • March to June: Summer brings excellent tiger sightings as animals gather near water sources.

It’s best to plan your trip four to six months in advance, especially if you want specific safari zones or popular lodges near the gates. Early planning gives you the advantage of better safari timing, preferred accommodations, and a relaxed travel experience.
