Types of Safaris in Bandhavgarh

Bandhavgarh offers two main safari options that can be booked online through the official forest department website or registered tour operators:

Jeep Safari (Gypsy Safari):Best suited for small groups, couples, or photographers. The open jeep gives close access to the park’s core zones and increases chances of tiger sightings.
Canter Safari: A shared option that carries more people, ideal for budget travelers or last-minute bookings.

Both safaris are led by trained forest guides who share information about wildlife behavior, tracking signs, and the park’s natural history.

Important Information for Online Booking

Advance booking can be done up to 120 days before the safari date.
Visitor details such as name, age, and ID proof are required during booking.
Foreign tourists must carry their passport for ID verification.
Once booked, the safari permit is non-transferable and non-refundable.
Carry the original ID proof used during booking to the entry gate.

Best Time to Visit

Winter (November to February)

The most comfortable season to visit Bandhavgarh. Cool mornings and evenings make safaris enjoyable, and wildlife is often seen near open grasslands. Ideal for photography and birdwatching.



Summer (March to June)

Hot but perfect for tiger sightings. As waterholes shrink, tigers and other animals gather near them, increasing your chances of close views during safaris.



Monsoon (July to September)

The park stays closed in this period. Rain refreshes the forest, and it reopens in October with lush greenery and a revived landscape.

How many types of safaris are available in Bandhavgarh?
